  English, mathematics and reasoning results are age-standardised. Kent sets an aggregate threshold and minimum component scores for each test year. The September 2027 thresholds are not yet published, a grammar assessment does not guarantee a school place, and each school applies its own admissions criteria when oversubscribed.

Normal Year 7 applicants must qualify through the Kent Test and name Invicta on the SCAF. After EHCP-named admissions, the order is looked-after or previously looked-after children, including adoption after overseas state care; continuing siblings at the same address; evidenced medical, health, social or special access need; Pupil Premium; staff children; then distance. Siblings include half, step and foster siblings, but not cousins. Medical/access evidence must show why this is the only suitable school. A parent’s medical needs alone do not justify priority; evidence must show the child’s resulting social need. Premium means FSM registration in the previous six years, excluding universal infant meals alone. Send the premium SIF by 31 October in the application year as well as the CAF. Staff must work full-time with at least two years’ continuous employment, or have been recruited for a demonstrable shortage position. Distance is straight-line between NLPG home and school points, with alternative coordinates where necessary; the school point is the same for everyone. Equal distance uses KCC random selection. If the final place falls to a multiple birth, each qualifying child is offered a place. The home is the child’s only/main residence; shared-care applications use the address where the child sleeps most nights each week, with residency evidence and changes notified. The waiting list runs to the end of the academic year. The policy defines no fixed catchment.

1. 1. English and mathematics paper

   Approximately one hour, with separate English and mathematics sections. Each section includes about five minutes of practice followed by about 25 minutes of test questions.

2. 2. Reasoning paper

   Approximately one hour including practice. It covers verbal reasoning and individually timed non-verbal and spatial-reasoning sections.

3. 3. Writing exercise

   A 40-minute writing exercise including 10 minutes of planning. It is not marked for the Kent Test score but can be considered by a headteacher assessment panel.
