Practise the 15 times table

Three practice questions first, then all twelve facts in a random order. Each one has six seconds and a three-second pause before the next, the same pace as the multiplication tables check in Year 4. Type the answer or tap the keypad.

Six seconds is a tough pace for a table beyond 12. If it feels too fast, work each fact out on paper first, then come back to the check.

Patterns that help

Every answer ends in 5 or 0: odd lots of 15 end in 5 and even lots end in 0. The first four answers are the quarter hours in minutes: 15, 30, 45 and 60.

Facts worth learning by heart: 15 × 7 = 105, 15 × 9 = 135 and 15 × 12 = 180.

If a fact goes missing: Split 15 into 10 and 5. 15 × 7 is 70 + 35, which is 105.

The multiplication tables check in Year 4 stops at 12, so the 15 times table is not in it. It is a stretch table: knowing it makes 11+ questions on multiples, fractions and money quicker, but the 2 to 12 tables come first.

Times tables are the base of 11+ maths

Quick recall of every fact from 2 to 12 is what 11+ arithmetic, fractions and ratio build on. The free diagnostic checks maths, English and both kinds of reasoning, and shows what to practise next. No card is required.
