Patterns that help
Every answer is even. Twelve times a number is ten times it plus two times it.
The facts that trip children up: 12 × 7 = 84, 12 × 8 = 96, 12 × 9 = 108, 12 × 12 = 144.
If a fact goes missing: Split 12 into 10 and 2. 12 × 7 is 70 + 14, which is 84.
The 12 times table is one of the five (6, 7, 8, 9 and 12) that the multiplication tables check gives more weight to, so it is worth extra practice before June of Year 4.
