Patterns that help
Up to 11 × 9 the answer is the digit written twice: 11, 22, 33 and so on to 99. After that, 11 × 10 = 110, 11 × 11 = 121 and 11 × 12 = 132.
The facts that trip children up: 11 × 11 = 121, 11 × 12 = 132.
If a fact goes missing: Work out 10 times the number, then add one more lot. 11 × 12 is 120 + 12, which is 132.
