There are 20 multiples of 5 from 1 to 100: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95 and 100.

Patterns that help

The last digits go 5, 0 and then repeat.

5 is odd, so its multiples go odd, even, odd, even: 5, 10, 15, 20.

A quick check: The last digit is 0 or 5. Odd lots of 5 end in 5, and even lots end in 0.

Building the list from facts you know: Work out 10 lots, then halve: 5 × 9 is half of 90, which is 45.

5 is a prime number, so its only factors are 1 and 5.

30. It is the first number in both the 5 and the 6 times tables. After it, they meet every 30: 30, 60 and 90 are all multiples of both.

What is the 20th multiple of 5?

100, because 5 × 20 = 100. The 50th is 250 and the 100th is 500.

How many multiples of 5 are there up to 1000?

200. The biggest is 5 × 200 = 1000.
