A sentence can act like a detective. It gives you clues, rules out tempting words, and helps a jumble of letters snap into place. But can you spot the answer before the final letter moves?
First, read the whole sentence and picture what belongs in the gap. Is the missing word naming something, describing something, or showing an action? The words around the gap give its meaning, and grammar tells you what kind of word will fit. Next, spread out every supplied letter. Build a word that matches both clues: the sentence clue and the letter clue. Move the tiles as often as you need. A quick rearrangement can reveal a familiar pattern. Now check carefully. Cross off each tile as you use it, then compare your answer with the original jumble. A plausible word is not enough. You must use EVERY supplied letter once, with none missing and none added.
Let's work through an example. Complete this sentence: "The puppy wagged its blank when it saw Mia." Rearrange the letters A, I, L, T to make the missing word. Which word completes the sentence and uses all four letters? Start with context. A puppy can wag something when it is excited. The missing word comes after "its", so we need the name of a thing the puppy has. The picture and sentence point towards its tail. Now test the letters. Put T first, then A, then I, then L. That spells TAIL. Cross-check the tiles: T is used, A is used, I is used, and L is used. No letter remains. Read it back: "The puppy wagged its tail when it saw Mia." It makes sense, and it fits the grammar. So the missing word is TAIL. Meaning checked. Letters checked. Answer solved!
Remember: read for meaning, decide what kind of word fits, rearrange every letter, then check them all. Context narrows the hunt, but the letter check proves the answer. You can solve the next jumble with confidence.
