Patterns that help

The last digits go 7, 4, 1, 8, 5, 2, 9, 6, 3, 0 and then repeat. Every digit from 0 to 9 appears once before the pattern repeats.

7 is odd, so its multiples go odd, even, odd, even: 7, 14, 21, 28.

A quick check: There is no quick digit check for 7, so the facts need learning. To test a number, count on in 7s from a fact you know: 7 × 10 = 70, so 77 and 84 are multiples, but 80 is not.

Building the list from facts you know: Split 7 into 5 and 2: 7 × 8 is 40 + 16, which is 56.

7 is a prime number, so its only factors are 1 and 7.
