A short worked example (2:16) for one 11+ verbal reasoning skill: Apply mirrored alphabet pairing.
This video shows how to decode letters using reversed alphabet pairs, such as A with Z. Watch an 11+ verbal reasoning question solved step by step.

Could CODE hide a completely different message? Yes... each letter has an alphabet mirror partner.
Keep one model on screen. Write the ordinary alphabet from A to Z across the top. Directly underneath, write the reversed alphabet from Z to A. Align both rows, so every letter sits above one partner. Read straight down each column. A pairs with Z, B with Y, C with X, and so on. To encode a word, find each source letter on the top row, then take the letter below it. Substitute one letter at a time, in the original order. Never move diagonally or rearrange the word. If a stated row reaches Z but the instruction says continue, do not stop. Wrap around to A, keeping the columns evenly spaced.
Let's work through an example. Here is the complete question. Using the mirror alphabet shown, which option is the code for C O D E? Option A, X L W V. Option B, X L O W. Option C, W L V X. Option D, C L E V. Which option is correct? Step 1: write the pair rows. The ordinary A to Z row stays above the reversed Z to A row. Check that the columns are level before reading anything. Step 2: read the columns. Find C; below it is X. Find O; below it is L. Find D; below it is W. Find E; below it is V. The pairs are C with X, O with L, D with W, and E with V. Step 3: substitute independently. Keep the source order C, O, D, E. Replace them with X, L, W, V, giving X L W V. That exactly matches Option A. The correct answer is Option A, X L W V.
Remember the same three steps: Step 1, write the pair rows. Step 2, read the columns. Step 3, substitute independently. Keep both alphabets visible, keep every letter in order, and wrap only when the stated row tells you to continue. You can crack the mirror code!
